Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee

Second Harvest

It has been a difficult year for the world, and Middle Tennessee bore the brunt of many challenges.

It started in March 2020 with one of the costliest tornadoes in American history, followed by the lockdown, also in March, due to Covid. On May the 4th, we were hit by a complex storm, one which is not all that common and has a name derived from a Spanish term Derecho – which means “straight ahead”. This phenomenon caused more damage in certain areas than the tornado two months earlier. As we entered Spring 2021, we saw devastating rain and flooding beating down on our weary, but resilient residents.

2nd Harvest Foodbank is highly reliant on volunteers to sort and pack all donations which will be distributed to more than 460 Partner Agencies in 46 counties in Middle and West Tennessee.

NashComm has been blessed and we managed to keep going throughout this time which has seen destruction and closure of many small businesses.

This is our time to give back to the community – we had absolute joy in sending a team to 2nd Harvest Food bank to do some volunteer work. It is truly a humbling experience, and we are very proud to be part of the Volunteer State!
